York County Soil & Water Conservation District

Urban Review Program

Home Contact Us Search

Urbanization is having an increasing impact on the soil and water resources of York County.  Unprecedented growth is occurring throughout the county.  Development has been given a boost by recent lowered mortgage rates, a vigorous building industry and farmland going out of production.  Recent regulations have been passed that require each municipality to review and grant approval to all land subdivided within a 5-year period into 3 or more lots. As a result, there has been a great demand from municipalities and the public for technical assistance regarding erosion/sediment control and stormwater management at development sites.  Towns can retain control of land use changes with the technical assistance available through the YCSWCD.  District staff provides assistance with the review and implementation of sediment and erosion control, and stormwater management plans.

How do I submit a plan for review?

1    a copy of the plans for the project

2    Signed original of the Stormwater Review form

3    a check for the $500 deposit to conduct the review

Mail to our office: YCSWD    21 Bradeen st, Suite 104    Springvale, ME 04083
